Waxcap Grassland Fungi of the Peak District

Date / Time
Start date:
Mon, 2013-09-23 19:30 - 22:00
Summary:
There are about 40 different species of waxcap fungi in the UK. Trust member Rob Foster will be sharing some of his knowledge about these fascinating fungi during this informative talk.

Nearly all of the 40 species of waxcap fungi can be found in the Peak District, mostly on the unfertilised slopes of hill sheep farms. Some are extremely rare, having been destroyed in much of the rest of the UK and Europe by the 'improvement' of grassland by ploughing up, reseeding and fertilisation.
