Eycott Hill is a fantastic upland landscape of volcanic crags, rolling moorland and valley mires. Cumbria Wildlife Trust is in the process of acquiring this important site to protect its future and improve it for wildlife.

Help us start our management of the site, on the first and last Friday of each month, by restoring some of the boundaries so we can start a regime of conservation grazing.

SORRY EVENT CANCELLED Dragonflies have been around since the time of the dinosaurs, and although they’re a bit smaller now, they’re still very impressive – come down to Blackburn Meadows and have a look!

Come and help us make a difference to this important Site of Special Scientific Interest by joining us on the first Tuesday of each month. The site is a mixture of wet grassland and woodland. We will be working to reduce the amount of non-native sycamore and beech in the woodland, as well as opening up and restoring areas of herb-rich wet grassland.

We will also do some fencing and access improvement work.

It’s ‘Our Wetland Wildlife’ weekend so why not put on those old clothes, climb into the waterproofs, pull on the wellies (or even waders if you have them!) and come and join our regular volunteers in doing some Typha pulling.

Be prepared to get muddy and have a laugh too, whilst doing some seriously important work for our wetland wildlife. Tea and coffee will be provided. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
