Life and Death on the Underside of Leaves
Insect expert Jean is a self-confessed 'nosy naturalist' whose fascination with the insects and spiders lurking on the backs of leaves started when she was studying a small green spider and has extended to the whole mini-community living there.
She will introduce you to some of the weird and wonderful creatures going about their business unnoticed on the undersides of a leaf.

National Memorial Arboretum and Croxall Lakes
Set in 150 acres with 30,000 trees and home to a variety of flora and fauna, the National Memorial Arboretum, nestled amongst lush and maturing woodland, features over 300 thought-provoking memorials representing
military and civilian organisations. It is a haven of peace and contemplation and our visit is timed to coincide with the autumn colours. We shall have a pre-arranged guided wildlife walk (approx 1¼ hour) and the rest of the time will be for everyone to choose what they wish to do.

The reserve is predominantly oak woodland with open glades of neutral and acid grassland in which reeds and tall herbs grow. Some flowers are locally rare, and the site contributes to one of London’s most important railway cuttings for wildlife, stretching southwards to Forest Hill.
