Enchanter's Nightshade

Scientific Name: 
Circaea lutetiana

This plant is actually a willowherb and is unimpressive until viewed close up.  It can be found in woodlands, hedge-banks, gardens and even at the foot of old walls.  It especially likes heavy rich soils.

How to identify: 
An erect plant with round leaf stalks and opposite oval leaves which are rounded at the base but reduce down to a finer tip. The flowers are very light pink and grow in an inflorescence.
