Balloo Woodland

A secluded woodland providing a quiet oasis for wildlife and people in the industrial heart of Bangor.

Balloo Woodland Nature Reserve offers a secluded stroll through semi-ancient woodland. The woodland is the last remnant of the gardens of Balloo House - home of the Steele-Nicholson family from the early 1700s - and is managed in partnership with North Down Borough Council.

The reserve is full of mature trees - with some oaks thought to be over 300 years old - which in turn support a range of woodland flowers, birds and insects. There is also a small pond and a network of paths.
