Big Lunch

Starting at 11am and running until 3pm, The Big Lunch at Moseley Bog will be offering the chance to take part in a range of fun activities, as well as being a great opportunity to learn more about your local wildlife while meeting and sharing food with friends old and new.

Walks around the reserve to show the beauty of this wonderful site are planned as part of the day, as well as fun activities for all the family and a chance to see the official opening of the beautiful new entrance gates linking the bog to Sarehole Mill. The gates and our other work in this area were funded by Biffa Award. The main activities will be taking place in the new meadow area near the Pensby Close entrance, but we're also planning to do a Zumbathon in the performance area in the centre of the reserve.

The Big Lunch was originally created in 2009 at the Eden Project, Cornwall, and is now an annual event which is held all over the country. Everyone is welcome to come, but as for any informal picnic with friends, you’re asked to bring food and blankets to sit on for the lunch. This is a great chance to meet people through a shared love of food and nature.

Here's what will be happening throughout the day:

11am – 3pm Family activities: Elf village, wildlife watching, wildlife crafts.
11.30 – 1.30pm Zumbathon in the Performance Area
11 – 12.15 Naturally Fit taster session – have a try at some conservation skills
12.30 Official opening of new gates at Pensby Close
1 – 3 Shared lunch
2 – 3 Wildlife Walk with a Reserve Officer
2 – 3 Storytelling & songs for all the family in the Performance Area
