Big Bird Farmland Count Event
The Big Farmland Bird count is an initiative which offers a simple means of recording the effect of any conservation schemes currently being initiated by farmers. The count is between 7-16th of February 2020.
Meet at the Visitor Centre.
Please bring binoculars and dress accordingly.
Forms and spotter’s guides will be provided.
Hot drinks and biscuits available.
Wildlife Watch
Wildlife Watch is the junior branch of the Wildlife Trusts and the UK’s leading club for young environmentalists.
Each month the group explores Parc Slip Nature Reserve to find out about the amazing wildlife there. Come along to take part in fun activities such as bird watching, nature art & crafts and bug hunting!
Meeting Place: Parc Slip Nature Reserve Visitor Centre, upstairs in the Discovery Room.

We’ll be making bird boxes and feeders to take home. And we’ll show you how to photos of your feathery garden visitors, so bring along your camera.

The £1 donation per person will go towards the AWT's work on natural climate solutions (protecting and creating woodland, research into eelgrass and kelp beds and promoting sustainability to make sure Alderney is not contributing to the destruction of peatlands and rainforests).

Hedgelaying Course
Who doesn't love a well-laid hedge?
On this 2-day course you will:
- Learn how to tell when a hedge is suitable for laying,
- Find out what tools you need for the craft and
- Learn hands-on how to go about laying the perfect hedge.
This course is run by our Woodland Officer, Doug Lloyd and is suitable for complete beginners up to intermediate level.
