The UK is home to over 250 species of bees. Monmouth based biologist and award winning BBC filmmaker Phil Savoie will introduce you to the private lives our common garden bees. Stunning pictures will accompany a fascinating talk.

Phil Savoie is a biologist, photographer and award-winning BBC filmmaker. A popular guest speaker, Phil has a bachelors of science degree in zoology, a master of science in photography and a master of fine arts in film. You’ll often find him in the lush green Welsh valleys he calls home, camera in hand, chasing bees, birds and the Milky Way.

Come along to the Golden Lion in Magor for a science and nature based quiz all in aid of Gwent Wildlife Trust's Bridewell Appeal. All funds raised from the evening will help Gwent Wildlife Trust purchase and create a new nature reserve called Bridewell Common between Magor and Undy.

There will be wildlife questions including picture and sound rounds. So brush up on your nature knowledge and join us for a fun evening for a good cause.

This event is organised by the Elan Valley Trust in partnership with Radnorshire Wildlife Trust. Listen to night noises and gaze at the stars if it is clear. We will be looking at moths and detecting bats with our specialised detectors.

This area of Mid Wales is known for its stunning, dark skies with an International Dark Sky Park nearby. 

Please bring torches, a mat to sit on, insect repellent and wear outdoor clothing and footwear. 

This project has received funding through the Welsh Government Rural Communities - Rural Development Programme 2014-2020, which is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Welsh Government.

Enjoy the summer's evening in the heart of Newport City Centre at this open air cinema with a difference. We’ll be screening four movies on the roof terrace of one of Newport’s most well-known pubs.
